One of the key aspects to steering a racing yacht is to understand your role as a helmsman. Top level steerers regard themselves as trimmers. Why? Think about the foils, both under the water and above, how they interact, their relative power and the overall balance of these foils.
The main trimmer actually steers the boat upwind, the kite trimmer downwind....
